Sarah Jackson McKelvie, violin, viola, and vocals
Sarah began her musical studies on the violin at the age of five. Her passion for the lush sound of the viola was sparked in high school and it was this instrument that she later received her bachelor and master of music degrees at the Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music and The University of Memphis. As an undergraduate, Sarah was a member of the Caricato String Quartet as both second violinist and later violist. This chamber group was a semi-finalist at the internationally acclaimed Fishoff Chamber Music Competition in 1995. She was also a fellow at both the Sarasota Chamber Music Festival and the Brevard Music Center. While in graduate school, Sarah was a member of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Sarah has been a member of orchestras in Europe including the Esternach Festival orchestra, and served as principal violist in the Lucca Opera Festival Orchestra in 1997. For the past eight years, she has served as principal violist of the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic under the direction of David Bowden. Sarah has been teaching private and group classes on the violn and viola for over ten years. She has created rich music programs in schools as well as currently directs a vibrant and active private studio. This past season, she was a featured chamber soloist on the "Mostly Mozart" concert. Sarah fills her days not only with music, but also the many demands and joys of raising three children.
Sean McKelvie, doublebass
Sean began his musical training as a jazz bassist in high school. His aptitude on the bass was quickly discovered by the bass professor at The University of Memphis, and Sean was accepted as a doublebass student in the school of music after only one year of instruction on upright bass. Sean continued his training at Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music earning a Master of Music degree in doublebass performance in 1997. Sean has performed as a member of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. He was also a fellow at the Brevard Music Center in 1994 and 1995. He served as principal bass at the Lucca Opera Festival in 1996 and 1997. A man of many talents, Sean currently works as senior manager of web developement for the Identity Group LLC. In his spare time, he enjoys collaborating with his wife, Sarah McKelvie, and playing, "Daddy" to Lydia, Patrick, and Fiona McKelvie.
Julie Hampton Scull, violin and viola
Julie is an active performer and teacher in the Indianapolis metro area. She performs in the viola section of the Carmel Symphony orchestra as well as maintains an active private studio. She received both her bachelor and master of music performance from The University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music (CCM). Some of her past performance credits include The Opera Theater of Lucca, Aspen Music Festival, and the CCM 18th Century Chamber Ensemble. Julie is a Suzuki certified instructor and is the founder of the Sound Starts Music Festival in Indianapolis. Julie enjoys collaborating with her husband Erik when they are not consumed by the demands and joys of their two small girls Audrey and Vivian.
Erik Scull, guitar, keyboard and vocals
While Erik received his Bachelor's degree in piano from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, he is an accomplished guitarist as well. Erik maintains a consistent performing and recording schedule as a guitarist/keyboardist in the Indianapolis area. A full time member of the Dane Clark Band, Erik has also worked with Donovan, Moby Grape, John Mellencamp, Carl Storie, and many others. Erik received his master's degree in music technology from The IU School of Music. Currently he works as a web developer for IUPUI in downtown Indianapolis. Erik is also the proud father to two sweet young girls, Audrey and Vivian.
Anna McNulty, harp
Anna is a talented high school junior with the Mother of Divine Grace home school program. She lives with her parents, Jim and Toni McNulty on their farm in Jennings County. Anna is completing her third year of study with Elzbieta Szmyt at Indiana University School of Music in the pre-college harp program. She began her harp study on the folk harp at the age of nine, under the direction of Connie Slabaugh. Anna plays at her church, St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jennings County. She enjoys playing for weddings, receptions, and competing in local and national contests.
